Fusion Applications bare metal provisioning series Part V: Installing a Transaction Database

An Oracle Fusion Applications environment requires a transaction database. You can install a single-instance Oracle Database Enterprise Edition by using the Provisioning Wizard, or you can install Oracle Real Application Clusters (Oracle RAC) by using the standard installation instructions. The database templates shipped with Oracle Fusion Applications describe the structure and features of the database, but do not contain any data. You can place the Transaction database either on IdM database server host or Fusion Applications node, however, it is strongly recommended to separate it from other components. We will install the database using Provisioning Wizard since it also automatically applies all the required patches.

Prepare your server as you would do for any other standard Oracle database installation. Means you have to apply all the prerequisite rpm’s, create users, perform server configuration, etc. The fastest way you can achieve it by using yum and Oracle RDBMS Server 11gR2 Pre-Install RPM.

Then, we have to install Fusion Applications Provisioning wizard software on the database host where we are going to provision Transaction database. The wizard is similar to the one we’ve used for IdM part. Browse to our installation stage directory and run installer:

cd /fusion_media/installers/faprov/Disk1
export JAVA_HOME=/fusion_media/jdk6
export DISPLAY=:01
./runInstaller

Screen Shot 2013-11-07 at 19.09.42 PMOnce this has been done, we can now run the Provisioning Wizard to install Transaction database.

cd /u01/provisioning/provisioning/bin
./provisioningWizard.sh

Screen Shot 2013-11-07 at 19.33.53 PMMake sure all the stages of Database installation has been completed successfully. Note that in PostConfigure phase required patches are applied:
Screen Shot 2013-11-07 at 21.18.32 PMOnce the database installation is complete, make sure you are able to connect to it via listener and database is up and running normally. If that is the case, proceed with loading schemas into the database using Fusion Applications Repository creation utility.

– Unzip the rcu software:

cd /u01
unzip /fusion_media/installers/apps_rcu/linux/rcuHome_fusionapps_linux.zip

– Create directory for Data Pump required for importing data into the database and unzip required dump files to that directory. This is a mandatory step for RCU:

cd /u01/apps_rcu
mkdir dp_dir
cd dp_dir
unzip /u01/apps_rcu/rcu/integration/fusionapps/export_fusionapps_dbinstall.zip
cp /u01/apps_rcu/rcu/integration/biapps/schema/otbi.dmp ./</pre>

– Launch Repository Creation Utility:

cd /u01/apps_rcu/bin/
./rcu

Screen Shot 2013-11-07 at 22.14.47 PM Enter your database information and click Next: Screen Shot 2013-11-07 at 22.15.15 PM Make sure that Prerequsite checks complete successfully and choose all the Fusion Applications components to be loaded: Screen Shot 2013-11-07 at 22.16.13 PM Next enter the values for asked variables. You can pick any directory for log variables that suits your architecture outline: Screen Shot 2013-11-07 at 22.21.09 PM Leave the default tablespaces intact or change them according to your needs: Screen Shot 2013-11-07 at 22.21.22 PM Make sure that tablespaces are successfully created and after crosschecking the summary page, proceed with loading the schemas into database: Screen Shot 2013-11-08 at 10.36.52 AM Once the process is finished, double-check again that Database is fully available and there were no errors during schema load. We are now ready for response file creation for Fusion Applications provisioning.

  4. I was wondering if you ever thought of changing the layout of your site?
Its very well written; I love what youve got
to say. But maybe you could a little more in the way of content so people could connect with it better.
Youve got an awful lot of text for only having one or two pictures.
Maybe you could space it out better?

  5. Wallpapers are usually sold in rolls and are put onto a wall using
an adhesive. For some, these antiques are all they have remaining of loved ones or family members.
It affects the characters because it plays a
role in who they are and the characteristics they have.

  6. Shopper Approved is based on the powerful concept called ‘social proof’, which states that:

When a potential customer goes online to buy a product or
service, they actually want and actively
look for reassurance that they’re making the right decision. And the way they get that assurance is
from other customers’ ratings, feedback, and reviews.

This is why statistically, 77% of online shoppers turn to consumer reviews before they decide to buy!

There’s a reason why Amazon, eBay, Sears, and pretty much every
other major ecommerce site have customer
ratings and reviews integrated into their website.

It’s because online reviews have been proven to increase
conversion, increase average transaction amounts, improve customer satisfaction, and even lower product
    returns!
